​At The Yellow Door Day Nursery, safeguarding children is at the heart of everything we do. Here’s what you need to know as a parent.

What safeguarding at nursery means?

Safeguarding means protecting your child from harm, promoting their welfare, and ensuring they grow up in a safe, supportive environment.
We ensure your child’s safety by:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment

  • Preventing impairment of health and development

  • Ensuring safe and effective care

  • Taking action to help children achieve the best outcomes

How We Keep Children Safe

At The Yellow Door Day Nursery, we take practical steps to keep children safe:

  • Safe Environment: Our premises and equipment are carefully maintained.

  • Trained Staff: All staff are trained in child protection and safeguarding procedures.

  • Online Safety: Children are supervised using computers and devices. Filters, content blockers, and e-safety guidance are in place.

  • Reporting Concerns: We have clear procedures for raising and reporting concerns, including contacting local authorities when necessary.

Keeping Children Safe Online

We teach children safe ways to use technology:

  • Discussing safe and unsafe online behaviours

  • Explaining who is a stranger online and offline

  • Monitoring online activity for older children

  • Using Skype or FaceTime safely, with guidance for interaction
